| STEP 1 -Measure the height of the door jamb. Subtract 3/4" from the height measurement for the housing side only.
Note: always wear protective clothing, eye-wear and face mask in case of construction debris. |
STEP 2 - Use any sharp metal cutting saw such as a simple hack saw or an electric mitre saw. The screen material should be tightly wound on shaft inside of housing to prevent a rough cut on the screen material. Make your cut of the housing 3/4" less than the measured height of the opening you intend to mount the screen into. If you are mounting the screen on the surface around the door, add 2-1/4" to the opening height measurement for the correct cut length for the housing. |

| STEP 3 - At the right side of the housing, place the bushing (B) from the spring kit bag into the housing end of the screen. The pull bar will be toward you (A) | STEP 4- Insert the end cap aligning the prongs to the end (2) of the housing. Use a rubber mallet to tap the end cap into place on the housing. |

| STEP 5 - Flip housing over and insert the spring (1) kit assembly into the open end of the housing. Leave about 4 inches of the spring kit assembly out so the spring can be wound. | STEP 6 - Using a small screwdriver, insert the inner hole of the end cap on spring kit assembly and rotate in a clockwise motion 8-25 times. Caution: hold onto the end cap after winding. |

| STEP 7 - Align the prongs on the end of the spring kit assembly with the end of the housing (1). Attach to the housing and tap in with a rubber mallet. | STEP 8 - Slide onto the pull bar the handles (3) on either side of the bar and attach with the set handle (4) screws that are provided in your spring kit bag. Use an allen wrench to hold handles in place on the bar. Turn the screws a few times. Do not turn too many times or it will strip the handle (5). At the end of the pull bar, place at both ends a sliding shoe that is provided (6).
The locking mechanism is used to keep one door stationary while the other you can move outside and inside. |

| STEP 9 - After sliding down the handle, insert the 2 springs onto the pull bar on either side of the handle. Insert the sliding lock bar with knobs onto the pull bar on either side of the springs with the knobs closes to the springs. Pinch the two knobs toward each other until the springs are fully compressed and cut any excess sliding lock bar and insert the sliding shoes at either end of the pull bar to hold the sliding lock bar into place. | STEP 10 - Test the screen tension and smoothness of operation. If you want to increase the tension, repeat steps 6 and 7. Tension should be set to firmly retract the screen. This is important to prevent the wind from blowing the screen out of the tracks. The DIY screen uses a full-length magnetic catch so it can accept a lot of tension on the screen and still remain securely in place. |

| STEP 11 - Mark the positions for the recess clips about 2 feet down and up from the top and bottom of the door jam and one centered. Affix the recess clips with the screws provided. If you are surface mounting the screen, use the included clips that attach to the housing. Then, simply attach the housing on the side of the opening with the inside edge of the housing even with the opening jamb Make sure the housing is plumb. The top of the housing will extend above the opening 2" and below approx 1". If the housing can't extend below due to a sill or floor, that's OK. That will simply mean the screen will be a little bit higher on top. |
STEP 12 - Snap the housing into place inside the recess clips with a half-rotating movement. Ignore if mounting on the surface outside of the opening. |

| STEP 13 - If you are surface mounting, see Steps 10 & 11. Affix the housing into the recess clips and now is the time to install the top and bottom tracks. The top and bottom tracks have 3 parts each. Two top tracks with a top union and two bottom tracks with a bottom union. | STEP 14 - An easy picture description of the measurement that needs to be made in cutting the top and bottom tracks in order for the screens to close in the center. Same for inside or outside (surface) mounts. |

| STEP 15 - Measure the center mark between the edges of the housing. Add 1/8" on the stationary side and deduct 1-1/4". Cut the top and bottom track to this length. | STEP 16 - On the opening side add 1/8" from the center mark to the edge of the housing. This is the length of the top and bottom track. Cut both to that length. |

| STEP 17 - Insert both ends of the bottom track into the slit on the housings. Attach the bottom union to one end of the bottom track and then to the other bottom track, push down to complete the bottom track assembly. Affix with a screw in the middle of the union. Repeat for the top track. | |
